Old Alresford House, Hampshire Smallwood Architects
In the eighteenth century Old Alresford House was rebuilt (about 1752) by Admiral George Brydges Rodney, who was created Lord Rodney in 1793. The Church of St Mary was built in 1753 on the site of an earlier church, and the tower dates from 1769. It occupies a commanding site and was enlarged and altered to the Gothic style in 1862.

Three storeys and basement, seven bays with slightly projecting centre three bays and single bay flanking wings at either end with single storey on basement.

Old Alresford House (listed grade II*) was built between 1749 and 1751 by William Jones for Admiral Lord Rodney. It lies against the park's northern boundary, close against the road which leads from the parish church to Upton House. To the north-east of the House is a modern house (built 1990) and the remains of the service buildings.

This is later named as Armsworth House on the 1st edition 1" Ordnance Survey map (dating from around 1817). The Tithe map of 1839 shows the estate was owned by Lord Rodney, the owner of Old Alresford House, who retained the woodland but let out the house and grounds and two fields to General Thackary. The rest was let to Richard Bailey Whitear.
