However, why is it that the only way to install the homebrew channel on a 4.3 system is by using the Indiana Pwns, Smash Stack or Yu-Gi-OWNED! exploits?

As long as you don't have Priiloader blocking updates, you can update right through the system settings. If you have Priiloader and it's blocking updates, you'll have to hold reset while turning on the console, go to menu hacks, and turn off the block updates setting. After the update just go to wii.guide and follow it as if your system never.

You can't do it right now because the update servers are down, but when they come back up, you can update normally. I would not use any external tools to do it as the safest way to update is through the official updater directly.

Now the updater finished everything except for installing the system menu and it was like this for about 30 minutes: "Attempting to Install system menu 4.2 v481".

You can download (maybe not now that Wii store is offline?) 4.3E firmware with ModMii and then use DOP-Mii to update offline to 4.3E. I honestly can't remember what I used MMM (Multi Mod Manager) for in those steps but I know between those tools, I was easily able to get from 4.2 to 4.3 kidsgontato • 5 yr. ago
