Paris-Roubaix [pa.ʁi.ʁu.bɛ] is a one-day professional bicycle road race in northern France, starting north of Paris and finishing in Roubaix, at the border with Belgium. It is one of cycling's oldest races, and is one of the ' Monuments ' or classics of the European calendar, and contributes points towards the UCI World Ranking.

Francesco Moser bepaalde het tempo op de kasseien en door zijn harde werk bleven er vijf renners over aan kop. De Nederlander Hennie Kuiper zat in de kopgroep. Hij viel onderweg tweemaal, maar wist steeds voorin terug te keren.

Francesco Moser, who had already won Paris-Roubaix three times, dropped the hammer on the Trouée d'Arenberg cobbles. That huge effort reduced the lead group to just five riders.
